About the Who’s Who in Fluorescence (WWIF) Annual Volume:
The Who’s Who in Fluorescence Annual Volume is published by Springer and appears annually around March.
The volume is a directory of fluorescence workers and companies from around the world. The volume publishes the contact details, specialty keywords and a brief description of a workers fluorescence expertise. A company section within the volume, lists fluorescence-related products as well as company personnel contact information.
Volume Dissemination:
The volume is currently given away free of charge at 2 major fluorescence meetings: The US Annual Biophysical Society meeting; and the European Methods and Applications of Fluorescence Spectroscopy (MAFS) meeting. Each year, over 1000 copies are freely disseminated via this route.
The volume can also be purchased from many internet book sites such as Amazon.com and is also given away freely on request by the Institute of Fluorescence.
Audience:
The volume is targeted at all workers who employ fluorescence and its applications in their everyday working lives. The volume is a comprehensive listing of both academics and company workers’ expertise in fluorescence.
Global Outreach:
Since its initial launch, the volume has attracted both contributors and an audience from all over the world. The 2007 volume featured 405 academic worker entries from no fewer than 35 countries.
Author Impact Measure (AIM number):
The Who’s Who in Fluorescence Volume features an author productivity statistic. Exclusive to the WWIF volume, the author impact measure is a number which reflects a contributor’s publication productivity within a given year. AIM numbers are voluntary and calculated by the contributors themselves. In 2007, 106 contributors supplied AIM numbers, constituting over 25 % of all the entries received for that volume.
